Carter Opportunity Scholarship

Recipient must be a sophomore, junior, or a senior student in the FAMU-FSU College of Engineering who demonstrates financial need as indicated by their eligibility for federally subsidized student loans and/or is a first-generation college student. The scholarship shall be awarded only if the student completes a degree in engineering within six (6) years. Preference shall be given to students who have a federal Work Study job on campus, who seek academic support and mentoring, and who may themselves be tutors or mentors to other students.

Any student may apply to be considered for the award; however, it is the preference of the donor that special consideration should be given to students who are active members of both the Society of Women Engineers (SWE) and the Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers (SHPE) and are the first generation in their family to attend college.
