  1. Florida State University’s motto is “Vires, Artes, Mores” (Strength, Arts and Character/Tradition). So, please respond to the following three two-part essay questions. Responses to each of the three questions should be limited to 500 or fewer words.
    • Subject #1: Vires (Strength: power, capability, perseverance, and resilience)
      Florida State University defines Vires as the strength to persevere, lead, and uphold shared values in challenging times.
      1. Tell us about a time or situation that you felt the need to intervene between two people that strongly disagreed, seeking to bring the emotion level down while encouraging constructive dialog on the topic. How did you demonstrate resilience, intellectual discipline, and respect while navigating the disagreement, using your strength to manage the situation?
      2. How will you bring this form of strength to the FSU community?
