Dunaway Family Economics Excellence Scholarships

Recipient must be a degree-seeking student enrolled in the College of Social Sciences and Public Policy.

Applicants must select a successful economist from the following list. An overview has been provided for each person listed which includes links to books, articles, videos, and podcasts with or about that person.

  • Milton Friedman – Economist who received the 1976 Nobel Memorial Prize in Economic Sciences
  • Roland Fryer – Youngest Tenured Black Professor at Harvard
  • James GwartneyFSU professor for 53 years, creator of the Economic Freedom of the World Report
  • Caroline Hoxby – Professor of Economics at Stanford University
  • Glenn Loury – First Tenured Black Professor at Harvard
  • Thomas Sowell – Economist, Professor, and Author. Considered one of the Greatest Thinkers of our time

Applicants must do one of the following:

  • read one book by the person selected, or
  • read at least two articles written by or about the person selected, or
  • watch at least two video interviews with or about the person selected, or
  • watch or listen to at least two podcasts with or about the person selected.

Applicants will then indicate which individual they have selected and submit their Word or PDF, responding to each of the listed questions and ensuring their name and FSU email address are included at the top of their submission:
