Suzanne Kelly Impagliazzo College of Nursing Scholarship

Recipient must be an undergraduate student enrolled in the College of Nursing with at least a 3.0 GPA and have a demonstrated financial need.

The Suzanne Kelly Impagliazzo Nursing Scholarship was established in memory of Suzanne Kelly Impagliazzo, to honor her legacy and dedication to the nursing field and to recognize the great care Suzanne and family were shown by nurses during her fight with glioblastoma.

Suzanne graduated from Florida State University in 1983 with her BSN and was the leader of her class. She would immediately find employment as a RN at Tallahassee Community Hospital in the ICU. The entirety of Suzanne’s career in a hospital setting was spent at Tallahassee Community Hospital under the same supervisor, Judy Goreau. Judy described Suzanne as a special nurse, employee, and friend to many. Suzanne was a gifted, comforting, and caring nurse who was trusted by her patients and their families, doctors, and colleagues. Suzanne’s last position in the hospital setting was as the Cardiac ICU Case Manager/RN. Suzanne was passionate about nursing and loved her work caring for patients and their families while assisting doctors and colleagues. Suzanne would then move to South Florida where she continued her nursing career when she accepted a position as School Nurse/Manager at American Heritage School in Delray Beach. While very different, it was both a challenging and gratifying position for her. Long after retirement and throughout her battle with brain cancer/glioblastoma (GBM), Suzanne kept her nursing license and certifications up-to-date, never allowing them to lapse.

Award recipients are expected to acknowledge Suzanne’s legacy and what it means for them to be recognized as the Suzanne Kelly Impagliazzo Nursing scholar.
